At NewWall, Winter for us isn’t just a time to look forward to the fluffy snow and the fast-approaching holidays. Because we know that December is the month that Pantone announces the ‘Color of the Year’. A shade that will inspire design and art in all its forms throughout 2020.
The color experts at Pantone select their chosen color based on “what is needed in our world today.” 2019’s Pantone Color of the Year was Living Coral, to restore positivity. In stark contrast, Pantone has selected a very different swatch from their collection, Classic Blue.
It’s official, Classic Blue is the Color of the Year 2020. “Instilling calm, confidence, and connection, this enduring blue hue highlights our desire for a dependable and stable foundation on which to build as we cross the threshold into a new era,” says Pantone. Classic Blue holds a resemblance to an evening sky and is a color with the power to inspire a clear, peaceful mind.
Pantone’s Color of the Year has been chosen in light of the uncertainty that the new decade holds. Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute, explains,
“Imbued with a deep resonance, Classic Blue provides an anchoring foundation. A boundless blue evocative of the vast and infinite evening sky, Classic Blue encourages us to look beyond the obvious and expand our thinking; challenging us to think more deeply, increase our perspective and open the flow of communication.”
With this exciting announcement comes a whole new trend for 2020 and fresh possibilities for interior design.
