Is it just me, or do events like Father’s Day get trickier to plan each year? Never one to be the same, I always try to find something a little different to show care and love. But as those years roll on – ideas can start running few and far between. Then, it came to me. Using products right here at NewWall, I could create a “surprise space” in our home, just for him. And you could, too! Here’s what I came up with… |
1. Retro roomDoes your partner or father enjoy all things old school? Whether it’s old tunes played through records, or posters of vintage movies, you could create a brilliant retro room for his preferred era. Whether that be a little 50’s nostalgia…. |
Or classic 70’s stylings… |
All it takes is a little wallpaper, and his possessions will do the rest of the work! |
2. Sportsmans’ spaceIf they’re an avid sportsman (or spectator!), then a great way to show a little love would be to incorporate it into a feature wall. |
They can also be more subtle, with a repeating pattern to add playful energy. |
3. Natural NooksIf you’ve read my other blogs, you’ll know I’m fond of a good nook. A great way to add character and life to a corner, this is perfect for those who don’t have a whole room to play with. If they love to take a walk on the wild side, I have some suggestions! |
I personally love these with woods and painted paneling. And, if you want a little something more, why not introduce a creature or two! |
4. Store in styleNothing ruins a small space faster than clutter. Granted, your child may not have learnt that valuable life lesson yet – but you can help steer them in the right direction! |
There are so many ways you can take this. If you want something a little more subtle, why not try wallpapering a smaller segment? As you can see, it’s a wonderful pairing opportunity…. |
5. Modern man caveHow could I talk about surprise spaces for Fathers’ Day, without mentioning the iconic “man cave”. Of course, the dwelling of your particular fella will depend on his personality. But in my experience, for these rooms, you need to go for deep, earthy or gray tones… |
