Maria’s Edit: Curated gifts for design lovers

By Maria RacoNov 25, 2024

Tis the season - it’s officially time to start present planning. In my determination to miss the last minute chaotic Christmas haul, I’ve started brainstorming thoughtful gifts for loved ones. And of course, this led to daydreaming about my own wish lists too….

As a design lover - my list is endless - and probably impossible for any of my family members to actually make a reality. But this got me thinking - there’s probably a lot of you struggling to buy for people like me! So, I’ve decided to help…

My present pitch to you

What if, instead of a standard present, you gift something truly transformative?

Wallpapers and fabrics let your design lover create a space that reflects their personal style, bringing their creative vision to life in ways a typical gift can’t!

Imagine their reaction to receiving a roll of luxurious, textured wallpaper or a bold, artful fabric that invites them to reimagine their home.

It’s thoughtful, it’s memorable, and it’s an experience they’ll enjoy long after the holidays.

But, I will say, choose carefully—each design has a personality of its own, and each design lover has particular tastes.

So, to make sure your gift truly resonates, I’ve curated four inspired picks for the different types of design lovers in your life.

1. For the impulsive one

Gift the joy of a new project!

For those who are always reimagining their spaces, a bold, textured design can be just the touch they need.

A statement roll of wallpaper or fabric with a vibrant botanical or geometric print offers endless possibilities for an accent wall or even a small nook.

It’s a gift that invites creativity and gives them a fresh canvas to experiment with.

2. For the nostalgic soul

For someone who treasures the beauty of timeless design, select a design inspired by classic patterns.

A delicate floral or a damask print can enhance spaces like a reading nook, library, or formal sitting area, bringing a layer of history and charm to their home.

3. For the detail devotee

I’d say go with beautifully understated. A gift with refined, subtle pattern that adds depth without overpowering their space would be welcomed!

Soft textures or geometric lines work well for a serene bedroom wall or hallway, giving a touch of sophistication that aligns with their “less is more” approach.

4. For the nature lover

For those who find inspiration in nature, bring the outdoors in with a design that celebrates botanical beauty.

Designs featuring lush greens, delicate leaves, or soft floral patterns lets them create a serene retreat in their home.
