What’s Trending: Children’s Blockbuster Movies (and the Rooms They Inspire)
There’s something magical about watching your child fall in love with a story. As both a founder and a mom, I’ve learned that those moments don’t have to end when the screen goes dark… they can live beautifully within their space.
Designing Through Their Eyes
As a mother of two energetic boys, I’m constantly navigating the balance between building a brand and building a home. And if there’s one thing I’ve come to appreciate, it’s how deeply personal a child’s space can be.
When I designed Myles and Beau’s rooms, wallpaper became our storytelling tool. Each room reflects their personalities, their curiosities, and yes: the movies they can’t stop talking about.
There’s a certain nostalgia in seeing their worlds come to life on the walls: layered, expressive, and evolving just as they are.
Blockbuster-Inspired Spaces
Toy Story
There’s something about Toy Story that never really leaves us. It’s playful and nostalgic, filled with warmth, movement, and that familiar sense of comfort. It brings a softness but also a sense of adventure that always feels timeless.
Soft aviation motifs:
Equestrian energy (hello, Bullseye):
To build on this story, I’d layer in subtle western textures or sky-inspired tones, keeping it imaginative, but still elevated.
Moana 2
This one feels like summer bottled up. It’s expansive and sunlit, rooted in nature, water, and discovery. It carries a sense of freedom that naturally translates into lighter, more organic spaces.
Palm serenity:
Bold tropical florals:
Lush greenery:
Think breezy layers, organic materials, and a palette that feels like it’s been softened by sea air.
PAW Patrol: The Dino Movie
Energetic, curious, and full of movement - this is the kind of story that leans into exploration. Dinosaurs, terrain, and adventure create a world that feels textured and alive.
Exploration and mapping:
Playful prehistoric patterns:
Moodier dino landscape:
I love grounding these themes with deeper tones, so the room evolves as they do.
The Cat in the Hat
Graphic, whimsical, and a little unexpected. It’s playful in a more stylized way, with bold contrasts and a sense of humor that feels both classic and fresh.
Primary color story:
Tailored stripes:
Storybook charm:
This is where you can have a little fun: mixing scale, color, and personality in a way that still feels considered.
Design That Grows With Them
Children’s spaces don’t have to feel temporary. The right foundation allows the room to evolve, layer by layer, as their interests shift and expand.
As a founder, I think about longevity and design integrity. As a mom, I think about joy, imagination, and creating a space where my boys feel completely themselves.
Somewhere in between - that’s where the magic lives.
I’ve always believed that interiors are deeply connected to the world around us—what we’re watching, what we’re inspired by, the stories our children carry with them, and the cultural moments that shape a season. Sometimes inspiration comes from travel, sometimes from fashion, and sometimes from the movies playing on repeat in your living room.
That connection between media, mood, and interiors is something I love exploring through our What’s Trending series. It’s less about following trends, and more about discovering thoughtful ways to bring personality, nostalgia, and imagination into the home in a way that still feels timeless.
