It takes a very special occasion for the World to feel united in collective inspiration…which is why I always love it when the Olympics come around.
A testament to determination, a celebration of human potential, a global appreciation of excellence - it’s impossible to not feel atleast a little inspired when it comes around. So, how can we use this feeling to inspire our spaces? Today, I’m going to share my ideas! Here’s how I recommend you channel olympic spirit into your interiors.
When I think of Olympic inpiration, the first thing that comes to mind is the experience of the competitors. Behind each discipline, lies years of simplicity and focus - meticulously perfecting their craft. But the feelings on race day, I can only imagine are a complete contrast to that. Adrenaline, nerves, excitement - justs bursts of the peaks of raw human emotion! To me, this juxtaposition creates an incredible inspiration to experiment with unmuted modern minimalism.
Imagine clean white as your canvas, with accents of bold splashes and vibrant hues.
It’s no secret that competitors dedicate most of their lives to practicing and perfecting their discipline. When I picture the spaces they do this, the style that comes to mind is instantly industrial chic.
Wallpaper Projects x Concrete Cat have joined forces in a new wallpaper line, "Oracle" - Concrete Cat's signature Oracle Pattern is an attempt to manipulate the powers of time and chaos to form some semblance of meaning through color and composition.
There’s something incredibly motivating about the raw, unpolished look of industrial chic. Think exposed brick, industrial grey, and black tones with bold pops of color, like red or yellow to keep the energy up.
A lesson we can all learn from Olympians, is the importance of prioritising rest and recovery. And personally, I can only do that in the right space.
