Embracing the Eerie: 5 Halloween-Inspired Interior Styles

Embracing the Eerie: 5 Halloween-Inspired Interior Styles

By Maria RacoSep 19, 2024

It’s the season of the spooks - and I’m here for it. In preparation for Halloween, I’ve naturally been looking around at fun decorations to celebrate the season in fun and creative ways. But, the more I look, the more I find incredible inspirations that could carry through for some stunning, year-round interiors. Ready to embrace the eerie? Read on, to discover 5 fantastic ways to do just that…

1. Gothic glam

Gothic glam combines the opulent beauty of classic European Gothic architecture with luxurious, statement-making elements.

Think rich in your pallet, with deep hues of burgundy, black, and dark purple dominate, while gold or silver accents elevate the space to something more refined.

It’s a style that balances the eerie with the elegant, never shying away, and embracing the bold and brilliant.

2. Victorian visions

There’s something so hauntingly romantic to me about Victorian-era interiors.

Heavy, dark wood furniture, damask fabrics and vintage accents set the tone for a space that’s full of stories and past lives lived.

Deep greens, maroons, and blacks make this look perfect for those who want a hint of romance with a lingering sense of mystery.

3. Edgy & industrial

Something that we see alot in spooky stylings is rugged, rough and harsh materials.

But these elements can’t only be embraced to scare…they’re actually a dream to style.

Think exposed brick and concrete, metal pipes, and distressed wood floors paired with iron features and leather furniture.

Industrial décor is stunning when paired with lots of side lighting as opposite to overhead. That’s how to balance the edgy and foreboding with comfortable and weirdly welcoming.

It’s raw, it’s gritty, and it’s perfect for anyone who wants to lean into the darker side of design.

4. Macabre minimalism

For a more understated yet still spine-tingling look, Macabre minimalism proves that less can truly be more.

Clean lines and a monochromatic palette (black, white, gray) set the stage, but it’s the subtle, unsettling details that bring this style to life.

5. Dark academia

I don’t know about you, but old libraries are always one of the first thing that comes to mind when I think of hauntingly beautiful spaces.

The binding of old books, the thousands of stories over thousands of years…there’s a lot of influence to be found here!

My mind mixes gothic sensibilities with academic sophistication, creating a space filled with floor-to-ceiling bookshelves, antique desks, and heavy velvet curtains.

Picture dark wood furniture, moody tones of green and oxblood, and vintage artifacts like globes and maps to add that scholarly yet sinister vibe.

It’s a style that’s as brooding as it is brilliant.
