Introducing NewWall HQ |
Our head office is where all the wonderful scenes of the showroom are planned. From exploring the new arrivals sent by our collection of World-renowned design houses to the analysis of trends and themes for our clients, NewWall HQ is truly the creative hub of the brand. |
So, it only makes sense for this space to be as lovingly crafted as our front-of-house displays.
Creating an office space that truly reflects the values of the business while enhancing the experience for the team, is a challenge many companies face. So, we decided it was time to share how we did it. |
The Challenge |
Anyone working in the creative industry will attest that ideas don’t always come easily. Let alone crafting the plans that convey those ideas effectively. On some days, it seems to flow as freely as a babbling brook, but on others, it can feel more like trying to find an Oasis in the Sahara… |
|
Being predominantly front-of-house-focused, our behind-the-scenes spaces naturally run on the small side. Offices in this industry tend to fit around the show spaces, not the other way around. So, the room we were working with had a slightly slanted ceiling, which at the time, made things feel a little claustrophobic. Without the right design application, the slant made the space feel progressively cramped – we needed to achieve the opposite.
|
The solution? A change of perspective. We decided to look up. The slanted ceiling was, at the time, a blank canvas – a void even. We wanted to transform this, the NewWall way. |
The Sky’s the Limit |
To enhance the space we had, we decided to adopt the French design technique, Trompe-L’oeil. This technique basically uses optical illusions to enhance, distort and transform a space – tricking the eye into seeing things differently.
For our office, the main focus was to enhance the sense of space, altering the perception of height to add depth and dimension. All that was left, was to find the design to do it. Open, refreshing, calming…we transformed our slanted ceiling into a breathtaking sea view – thanks to Coordonne. |
The Sea Window Mural was always a favorite among the team, instantly transporting the mind to a beautiful seaside haven. The result? Well, see for yourself… |
Want to recreate this in your office space? These designs are also great space-makers! |
But, don’t forget, Trompe-L’oeil offers more than fake skies. You can introduce beautiful historical intricacies without the effort… |
Or find your own, unique influence!
