The Shuiping De Pillement fabric is named for the artist Jean-Baptiste Pillement, who pioneered the chinoiserie movement in Europe in the 18th century. The design combines classic oriental motifs with contemporary characters to create a subtly subversive pattern. Bands of decoration extend across the printed velvet fabric, bringing a sense of balance and rhythm to the layered repeat.
