Setting the Scene: The Dark Allure of Verity

Setting the Scene: The Dark Allure of Verity

By Sarah NacarioSep 04, 2026

From bestselling page-turner to one of Hollywood’s most anticipated adaptations, Verity is stepping off the page and onto the big screen and bringing its dark, seductive world with it. Moody forests, shadowy interiors, warm modernist spaces, and richly layered textures set the tone for a story steeped in mystery and suspense.

And don’t worry, there are no spoilers here. Using glimpses from the official trailer, we captured some of the film’s most striking settings and looked to the NewWall collection for wallcoverings that echo their color, texture, and atmosphere. Consider it our design-minded take on the world of Verity: from screen to wall.

The title cover moves from mossy olive to near-black, creating a mood that feels restrained, atmospheric, and quietly mysterious. We selected NewWall designs in rich forest and deep emerald tones, with subtle texture and botanical detail that echo its cinematic depth and dramatic color story.

Into the Woods

With the house tucked among bare trees, rocky terrain, and layers of muted forest green and earthy brown, these NewWall wallcoverings echo the immersive, slightly mysterious quality of the surrounding landscape, bringing its cinematic woodland atmosphere indoors.

Seen from above, the winter landscape becomes an abstract composition of winding paths, bare branches, snow, and icy blue-grey tones. These wallcoverings capture that same atmospheric quality through soft movement, organic forms, and cool mineral tones.

Warm Modernism: Texture After Dark

The living room layers warm wood, creamy neutrals, rust-toned drapery, plush textures, and sculptural furnishings for a distinctly 1970s modernist feel. Wallcoverings in soft camel, terracotta, and warm neutral tones with subtle geometry or tactile dimension echo the room’s retro character while giving the look a polished, contemporary update.

The office is grounded in warm ochre walls, dark wood and sculptural metallic accents, creating a setting that feels polished yet intimate. Our wallpaper picks draw from those amber, tobacco and burnished-gold tones, adding subtle texture and depth while preserving the room’s sophisticated, understated mood.

Surrounded by manuscript pages, handwritten notes, and stacks of research, the setting has a tactile, almost archival quality. Inspired by this literary atmosphere, these wallcoverings use layered forms, torn edges, fine lines, and paper-like textures to evoke the look of collected pages and works in progress bringing a handcrafted sense of depth and story to the walls.

Read Between the Walls

The world of Verity shows how much a setting can shape a story and the same is true of our interiors. Wallpaper offers a way to capture that feeling without recreating a room literally, translating a memorable color palette, texture, landscape, or mood into something entirely your own. Whether drawn to shadowy botanicals, atmospheric murals, warm ’70s tones, or layered paper textures, explore NewWall to find a wallcovering that turns cinematic inspiration into a space with its own story to tell.
